La Marina, 1998

I take the bus from any bus stop, doesn´t matter, from this point onwards the journey begins: I get on and I go inside the tunnel, the walls are made of humans, we move, it follows its way passively. I begin to become part of a provisional tribe, which I join for the journey. My face passes other faces, we pass another bus which is coming back from the sea.Read more

The bus drivers wave at each other, they are in the same world. On the journey, there are others like me, looking out, with a distracted look. The landscape is stimulus for thinking, forgetting ones problems and dreaming. Then suddenly it is your own reflection in the glass, you are the reality, the dream evaporates. In the outside world everything runs away, I capture the image, stopping the bus with my camera. I can retain a fragment of the landscape which goes fleeting by the window.

La Marina (the coast, but also the name of a bus that runs between Gandia city and the beach). The project was shown in solo exhibition in Guardamar del Segura and Gandia in 1998-1999. Elena auto edited the catalogue in collaboration with the Gandia City Council, La Marina Bus Company and Tano Pastisseria in Gandia, Spain.
